In March we were invited on a tour of the Colorado River Water project, offered by the Las Virgenes Munincipal Water District Our first stop was Diamond Valley Lake, a man-made reservoir built between two mountain ranges. It can hold a six month supply of water, storing it in the wet season, and drawing it in the dry season. Water is drawn from a huge water tower which extends to the bottom of the lake. It lets water out at rates up to 1,900 cf/min (depending on the depth of the water). The water is also used to run a generator plant which produces 13 megawatts of power.
