Arlington Cemetery
| Vietnam-memorial: Of all the memorials I saw,
the one with the most impact was the Vietnam War Memorial. It was designed
by a young student who apparently only got a B from her prof on the project.
The memorial is a .5 km long, stone-wall with names inscribed in cronological
order of the soldiers deaths. As you walk along , the wall gets taller and
taller to accomodate all the names. As you read and read and read the names,
the impact of the numbers of deaths hits you! 60,000 is only a number, but
when you read 60,000 names your heart breaks.!!! It also made me realize
the impact of the anti-war marches in convincing the US govn't that slaughtering
their soldiers should not be taken lightly.
