On the way home we stopped in Sacramento and visited Old Town

Here, the historical downtown waterfront has been preserved Some buildings are now turned into shops, restaurants and candy stores. Some of the buildings have been restored so beautifully, they compete for to notch office space. In the 20's(?) the waterfront was raised twelve feet after four floods decimated the area. This is view looking downward to a portion that is still open.

The drawbridge was built about 1904. It allowed huge ships to travel inland on the dredged river.
